Driver is responsible for maintaining the data of the navigation system up to date. Driver remains responsible for controlling the vehicle to avoid a collision or other accidents. Driver remains at all times responsible for determining the correct speed limit and to abide by such speed limits, including in situations in which a speed limit may be altered, but such change in speed limit is not recognized by the navigation system, such as in the cases of reduced speeds in construction zones or where posted speed limits have been recently increased or decreased. Only select provincial and territorial highways will apply to this feature of the system. For HDA to maintain the posted speed limit of a highway, the system must be set to the exact speed limit. Driver remains responsible to slow or stop the vehicle to avoid a collision. HDA will not work under all circumstances and on all highways and will not prevent loss of control.

HDA should not be used in poor weather, heavy or varying traffic or on winding or slippery roads. HDA will reduce cruise control set speed as the vehicle approaches a curve in the highway. Highway Driving Assist (HDA), when used in conjunction with Lane Following Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control with traffic stop and go, is for highway use only and can help keep the vehicle centred in its lane while maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead only when the lane markings are clearly visible on the road. See Owner’s Manual for further details and limitations. Always check your surroundings when driving. FCA and JTD are not substitutes for safe driving. See Owner’s Manual for detailed descriptions of example conditions in which FCA may not detect a vehicle, pedestrian or cyclist, or JTD will not detect an oncoming vehicle.

JTD will operate when the driver turns left, if your vehicle’s turn signal is on and vehicle speed is between 10 and 30 km/h, and oncoming vehicle’s speed is between 30 and 70 km/h. Junction-Turning Detection (JTD) provides sound warnings if the system recognizes a potential risk of collision with an oncoming vehicle and will automatically apply brakes depending on the collision level. FCA will not detect all vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists under certain conditions.

FCA initiates full braking at speeds between 10 and 75 km/h (vehicle detection), 10 and 65 km/h (pedestrian detection) or 10 and 65 km/h (cyclist detection) if the SANTA CRUZ is equipped with the FCA “camera and radar -type” system. FCA initiates full braking at speeds between 10 and 60 km/h (vehicle detection), 10 and 60 km/h (pedestrian detection) or 10 and 60 km/h (cyclist detection) if the SANTA CRUZ is equipped with the FCA “camera - type” system. The speed at which FCA initiates full braking depends on the type of FCA system equipped on the SANTA CRUZ. FCA will not work on winding or hilly roads, during certain weather conditions such as rain, snow, fog and any other times of limited visibility.

FCA will not detect all vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists or other objects. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) is designed to detect vehicles, pedestrians or cyclists that are directly in front of the vehicle.
